I'd read about it...I'd even seen it on Mythbusters, but I was still not sure if it could really happen. Then I got the call from a user that had managed to do what I thought was impossible. She stated that her burnt music CD shattered in her drive. I tried cleaning the drive but the shards were scatter in throughout the drive. I was able to piece enough parts of the CD back together to read the title.

A remote user sent his PC to our department. Somehow he had managed to completely melt the front of the case. The Dell logo was barely held on. The CD-Rom tray was warped. When the user was asked about what happened he insisted he did not have any type of heat source near the PC and that the heat came from inside the computer. We put the PC on display for a few weeks.

I got a call from someone with a Toughbook CF-28 that had a battery that would not hold a charge. I filled out a hot swap to have a new battery sent to him and a battery was sent to him alright....he reported having problems getting the replacement battery in the laptop. It turns out that [vendor] sent him the wrong battery. The user reported (and I quote) "15 minutes and all my weight later I was able to get it jammed in there".

No... The Web Cam is NOT a projector. I can't believe that the person that borrowed the webcam thought it could be used as a projector. I mean... Hello!!! "...Cam" How does that imply "projector"??

User tells me that when he got into work today he thought to himself how big his cell phone felt in his pocket. When he reached in to pull it out he realized he had actually left his cell phone at home. Instead he had brought his TV remote to work.

I get a work order that reads, "User's PC will not boot after recent windows upgrade". I go to visit the user and find her PC to be unplugged. When I ask the user about the windows upgrade I find it was not a Microsoft Windows upgrade but an actual upgrade to the windows in her office. The workers that installed the windows moved her pc to make room for the install and unplugged all the equipment on her desk. I was just glad it was an easy fix and I did not have to worry about reinstalling Windows.

After installing a scanner for a user I could tell she was going to need help using it. After showing her how to scan a few documents I then scanned a picture at which point the user turns to me in amazement and then ask, "so were does the color ink go?". After pausing to think how she must think a scanner worked, I politely explained how the magic of scanning is done without the use of ink.

I get a call from a user stating that he split some coffee on his keyboard. Being the genius that I am I went to the user's desk knelled down and picked up the keyboard. To my surprise the user did not spill a little coffee but instead an entire cup of coffee. My knees became soaked with coffee as I lifted the keyboard to find it filled as well. Hot coffee flowed forth from the keyboard drenching the few dry spots left on my pants. Oddly enough the keyboard still worked. But I smelt of coffee for the rest of the day.

Sweaty Keyboards.
Send in a picture of YOUR sweaty keyboard...or of that shinny gloss coated keyboard of your potato chip eating co-worker.
